This recipe has been tried and tested. It was Reser-approved and continues to be a staple in our household. Not only is it delicious, it is probably one of the easiest dog-treat recipes you will encounter, and all the ingredients are fairly standard so it shouldn't require a special trip to the store!
Ingredients
2-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons peanut butter (NO XYLITOL)
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (we use Ceylon cinnamon)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Whisk together flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff.
Roll the dough into 1/2” thick roll.
Cut into 1/2” pieces. I ended up flattening the dough and cutting very small squares with a pizza cutter to use for training treats (we prefer small). You can also use cookie cutters for cuter cookies!
Bake in a preheated oven until hard about 40 minutes.
Let cool and enjoy!! Let us know if you try this recipe and how it turned out.
