Reser's Favorite Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

This recipe has been tried and tested. It was Reser-approved and continues to be a staple in our household. Not only is it delicious, it is probably one of the easiest dog-treat recipes you will encounter, and all the ingredients are fairly standard so it shouldn't require a special trip to the store!

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups whole wheat flour

  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (NO XYLITOL)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (we use Ceylon cinnamon)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Whisk together flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff.

  3. Roll the dough into 1/2” thick roll.

  4. Cut into 1/2” pieces. I ended up flattening the dough and cutting very small squares with a pizza cutter to use for training treats (we prefer small). You can also use cookie cutters for cuter cookies!

  5. Bake in a preheated oven until hard about 40 minutes.

Let cool and enjoy!! Let us know if you try this recipe and how it turned out.
